Law of the Game

All games will be played under the FIFA Laws of the game except the changes to the substitution rules.

Duration of the Game

All games will consist of (2) 35 minutes halves, split by a 5 minute halftime break.  If tied, the game will end in a tie, unless it is a playoff game.  Playoff games will have one ten minute sudden death "golden goal" period and then will be followed by state series Pk's if still tied at the end of sudden death.

Uniforms and Equipment

Each player must wear shin guards and an official uniform with a number on the back.  The “home” team, which will be listed first, should wear a light-colored jersey, while the “away” team, listed second, should wear a darker jersey and will be responsible for changing jerseys if/when jersey colors are similar. (You may wear Training vests if needed)

Start of the Game

A referee’s coin toss will determine direction and which team starts with the ball.  Similar, separate coin tosses will also be used to begin any overtime or penalty kick periods.

Substitution

An unlimited number of substitutions will be allowed, following normal standards for when a team may substitute (goal kick, a team’s own throw in, following a goal, at half-time/OT, on a team’s own corner kick, injury, caution, or any time an opposing team chooses to substitute).

Cards

Any player receiving a yellow card must be substituted and can re-enter the match at the next allowable substitution.  Yellow cards will accumulate, and 3 yellow cards will constitute a 1-game suspension.  Any player/coach receiving a red card will be disqualified for the next game of the league.  A 2nd red card will result in disqualification for the remainder of the league.

Failure to show/Forfeits

A minimum of 7 players constitutes a team.  A 10 minute grace period will be extended beyond the kickoff time before a forfeit will be declared.  The League Director will make the final decision if a forfeit shall be allowed depending upon extenuating circumstances that may have prevented a team from making the game on time.

Players

WSSSL is open to all players entering grades 9-12 in the fall of ’11 and who will be enrolled in their respective high school.
